The Trevor Project has put together a useful article covering everything about Asexuality from frequently asked questions, what is asexuality and understanding relationships.
Asexuality is an umbrella term describing people who experience little to no sexual attraction or experience it in a non-normative way. Asexual individuals ("Ace" or "Aces") can still form intimate relationships (romantic, platonic, or other). The asexual spectrum includes identities like demisexual (sexual attraction after a strong emotional connection) and grey-A (identifying between sexual and asexual). Queerplatonic relationships are non-romantic with intense emotional connection. Asexual people also use terms like hetero-, homo-, bi-, and pan-romantic to describe their romantic attractions, which are separate from sexual attraction.
